Hi, I’m Beau.
I’m a writer, entrepreneur, musician, former social worker, and someone who has spent much of my life trying to understand why people believe what they believe, how they become trapped in unhealthy systems, and what it takes to rebuild after those systems fall apart.
This blog explores recovery, addiction, religious trauma, mental health, identity, relationships, personal growth, and the complicated process of figuring out who you are after years of being told who you should be.
I grew up in a high-control religious environment and spent years navigating the effects that shame, fear, and rigid belief systems can have on a person’s sense of self. Later, my experiences in social work, recovery, and my own personal life deepened my interest in how people heal, change, and reclaim their identities.
Over time, I’ve become fascinated not only by religious fundamentalism, but by the many forms of modern-day cultism that exist throughout society. Whether it’s extremist politics, influencer culture, social media tribalism, addiction, groupthink, or high-control organizations, many of the same psychological patterns appear again and again.
My goal isn’t to tell people what to think.
It’s to encourage people to think critically, ask difficult questions, and understand themselves with greater honesty and compassion.
Some posts are personal.
Some are analytical.
Some are uncomfortable.
But all of them are written with the belief that understanding ourselves is one of the most important things we can do.
If you’ve ever struggled with addiction, religious trauma, shame, identity, mental health challenges, or the process of starting over, I hope you find something here that helps.
Thanks for reading.
